Great interview here with Dawn Devries Sokol, author of 1000 Artists Journals and the new release that I can’t wait to get my hands on, The Year of the Doodle. I love what she said in this article, as it’s what I’ve been saying all along and is the point of this website:

At some point you have to realize—all of us are creative. Sometimes you just have to learn that process. My brother could do it naturally from day one. He had that ability. I did not.

If you find art journaling interesting, I think it’s a great way to get started on exploring your own creativity. Read more from Dawn at her website and blog.

  1. I do the same thing. I use regular srbopcoak items because I have an addiction to paper and pens of course. I’m starting to notice I’m using more things around me in my journals. Great post Dawn and I can’t wait for the class to start. I had so much fun in the summer class.
