oh man, you are one lucky dog if you’re reading this right now. We had a few last-minute cancellations and there’s still room in Kelly’s workshops for you! Kelly, in all of her graciousness, said that we can keep registrations open and she will accommodate with supplies and handouts.
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a handmade book?
Do you journal with words and want to spice up your diary or learn ways to stay motivated?
Are you a scrapbooker and interested in taking your pages to another level?
Are you a rubber stamper or crafter of some kind and are hungry for more learning?
Are you an artist and want to keep more creative notes about your thoughts, sightings and ideas?
Any and all of you are welcome to take these workshops! Beginners are especially welcome, as Kelly takes everyone step by step through the bookmaking process and is a great teacher. Every time I take workshops will Kelly, I learn at least one new thing (but usually a lot more than just one!) and I get reinvigorated and inspired in all of my creative endeavors. I have been art journaling since high school, when I didn’t even know it had a name, and my journals are now more clever, interactive and awash with color than they’ve ever been.
Leighanna Light is coming to our neck of the woods in September. “Oh, that’s so far away, Tracey! How can we wait that long?” is what you may be saying. What I say is that this will give us all plenty of time to dig through our stashes of metal, embellishments, and collect our STUFF because these workshops all have deliciously chunky supply lists. We are going to make birds and this amazing canvas book and we are going to etch metal without all of that messy toxic stuff!
Now, don’t let the supply lists scare you off because Leighanna has class kits that include doodads and use of her tools and consumables. Also, don’t forget our freebie tables that are full of doodads and whirlygigs that will be fun to sift through when you need to get up and stretch during class.
Some supplies, such as the heavyweight canvas and venetian plaster for Lily’s Book, might be best purchased and split among class takers. When folks start signing up, we’ll discuss and make arrangements to “co-op” some of the supply purchases. Stay tuned for that info.
And on a related note, we will soon have a car pool page on this site, which many of you have requested. Watch this blog for an announcement in the next week or so (as soon as I have a chance to finish testing the thing). It will definitely be ready in time for you all to arrange shared rides for the Kelly Kilmer weekend.
Hi everybody…sorry for the technical issues. I promise this will be fixed soon. A registrar that shall not be named messed around with the domain name and that’s what’s messing everything up (or so I’ve been told). It should shake itself out in the next 24 hours and I will keep an eye on it, reposting here when everything is back to working order.
We need a few more people to make Friday’s Julie Fei-Fan Balzer workshops a reality (the Saturday and Sunday workshops are a go for sure). So, if you’ve been holding off, please register by Tuesday, May 27. If we don’t have a minimum of 10 people for those two classes, we’ll have to cancel the Friday workshops.
Take a look at the Friday classes:
Authentic Stencils Friday, May 30 • 10a-1p • $85 Stencils are a must-have tool these days. There are lots of gorgeous commercial stencils for sale, but it’s also super easy to make your own! Come and learn how to make your own stencils and Julie Fei-Fan Balzer will share all of her tips on what makes for a good stencil design.
The Stenciled Face Friday, May 30 • 2:30-5:30p • $85 Learn just how easy it is to create fabulous faces using the help of some Balzer Designs stencils! If you think you can’t draw faces, this is the class for you!
Mixed-media artist Julie Fei-Fan Balzer will be at Masonville Artist Studio May 30, 31, and June 1 to teach us cool painting and stenciling techniques like only she can. It will be a blast, so try to join us! And do spread the word! This has a short registration window so we want to be sure everybody knows about it — many hands (mouths) make light work, you know. Thanks!
Yes, things have been very quiet on this site lately. But now that the holidays are wrapped up (except for those darn Christmas letters I just have to stamp and get into the mail!), it’s time to look forward to the spring/summer workshop season!
We just had confirmation that Kelly Kilmer will be here to teach again this coming July. The weekend is July 18-20, so mark your calendars now, kids, and stay tuned for updates and details as we have them.
