A really nice place to stay overnight in Fort Collins

FortApartmentA lot of times, folks come up from Denver, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs (and even from out of state!) to take workshops and to enjoy the awesomeness that is Fort Collins. As a result, I receive many inquiries about places to stay. I wanted to highlight one of them in particular, because I’ve seen it in person and it’s WOW.

It’s an airbnb apartment that is very close to Old Town, hosts 4 (2 queen beds), has a kitchen, and is the most lovely, cheery space you’ve ever seen. Check it out. Best of all? It’s $100/night!

So, if you’re coming up for the Kelly Kilmer weekend, you might want to grab a friend or two and book!

Another thought: If you want to check out an Art Play Date, why not stay overnight on Friday night and then enjoy the afternoon in Fort Collins after our get-together!

Two Little Disclaimers:

  1. My friend runs this joint
  2. I do not make a commission for recommending her space.

Art Play Date #1 Notes

We had a great time on Saturday, hanging out, talking and working on our respective projects. Thanks to Minnie, Mary, Darla, Sonia and Odile for being pioneers in this group experiment. And when I say we talked, boy, did we talk! Below are the notes I took during our Play Date. I thought these might be useful for everyone’s reference.

And before I forget, I’ve set up a Facebook group for conversation. This way, you can choose to chat on Meetup or Facebook. I’ll be posting news and updates to both sites, as well as to this blog and in the newsletter. So, pick your poison and stay in touch!

Art Play Date #1 is This Saturday!

You may be wondering where I’ve been. *looks around the room mysteriously* Well, that’s a story for another day. The most important thing is that…

Art Play Dates are back!

Starting this Saturday, April 23rd (sorry for the late notice; I’ll do better next time), you and your fellow creatives are invited to meet up in the Idea Lab at the Community Creative Center in Fort Collins from 9a-noon. Bring a project you’re working on and settle in for a few hours of socializing and creating.

Here’s our agenda:

  • 10 minutes to gather and set up our spots
  • 10 minutes of introductory speech from me
  • 15-30 minutes (or as needed) for introductions and show & tell (2-5 minutes per person)
  • The rest of the time will be for creating and talking!
  • 10 minutes at the end for cleanup, as we need to be out by noon.

Thanks to the Community Creative Center for co-sponsoring this Art Play Date!

Future Art Play Dates will be held in the basement workroom at the CCC on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

The Community Creative Center is located at 200 Matthews Street in Fort Collins.

Please RSVP on our meetup.com page so that we know to expect you!

Questions? Comment here and I’ll get right back with you. I also set up a new Facebook group for discussions, so you could ask your question there, if you prefer.

Great interview here with Dawn Devries Sokol, author of 1000 Artists Journals and the new release that I can’t wait to get my hands on, The Year of the Doodle. I love what she said in this article, as it’s what I’ve been saying all along and is the point of this website:

At some point you have to realize—all of us are creative. Sometimes you just have to learn that process. My brother could do it naturally from day one. He had that ability. I did not.

If you find art journaling interesting, I think it’s a great way to get started on exploring your own creativity. Read more from Dawn at her website and blog.
